These are the directions to the youth Sound-System.

We usually set-it-up & utilize it in Celebration Hall.

During the week it's locked-away in room 1202.

TEXT Chris or Steve if you're locked out & need help.

There are two main pieces.

A black felt-covered cabinet, and a rolling metal cart.

+ 2 or 3 giant tupperware boxes full of cables.

The cabinet has 3 panels/lids that need to be removed.

The Cabinet has 1 main power cable that is black (bottom of pic, below).

You will probably need an extension cord.

I use the green extension cord that provides 3 plugs.

We have now color-coded the 1st cables to plug in (see pic below)

They are long cables with blue "alligator clips" at the end.

You pug the blue part into on of the two AMP's on the back-bottom of cabinet.

An AMP provides power for speakers that do not have their own power-source.

We own four types of speakers:

short JBL = has it's own power-supply.

tall JBL = needs power from an AMP

PEAVEY (laying on side) = needs power from an AMP

Monitor = needs power from an AMP

The first long-cable with the "alligator clip" will plug into a monitor.

It needs power from an AMP.

Then you will "daisy-chain" the monitors together using 1/4" cables.

Out of one, into another (in succession).

The monitors should now all be hooked-up & able to play sound (like from a CD).

We will now hook up the Peavey speakers from the AMPs.

Run another "alligator clip" cable from the other AMP;

to the Peavey speakers (because they are not powered).

Then daisy-chain the 2 Peavey's together using a long 1/4" cable.

Here's a look at the back of the other stage speakers:

Most will be color-coded;

... We will now hook up "the snake."

This is the biggest & heaviest cable we own.

The ends plug into the sound-board.

You usually only need to plug-in numbers 5-10.

The rest can just dangle.

Drag the "box-end" of the snake to the stage.

Guitars & Keyboards plug into the snake.

The Fantom keyboard & acoustic guitars will need a "direct-box."

You will need "XLR" cables.

There are 2 types of cables. - XLR and 1/4".

For speakers that are "powered" (short JBL's, etc);

The sound-cable comes out from the back of the new EQ.

Our microphones are wireless (run on batteries).

They can be found in the front drawer of the sound-cabinet.

... Now for the VIDEO.

You'll need a laptop, and the video converter box.

(in pic below to left of laptop)

It is plugged into the monitor port AND the USB port on the laptop.

You'll need the co-ax cable from upstairs.

you switch the video box (upstairs, in pic below);

by hitting the "YOUTH" button.

Projectors are turned on by using 2 different remotes:

>> I'll discuss the lighting later ... THANKS
